Mexican
Dream
The main idea of the exhibition is to immerse the audience into Anya’s surreal world by using the combination of the paintings, objects, the technologies of VR and augmented reality. Also invite the audience to participate into the creation of an art object.
“For a Russian, Mexico is a remote, incomprehensible, exciting, intriguing country, with bright colors and tastes, and completely different people. At the same time, people are like-minded with the Russians: they long for freedom, communication, adventures and at the same time strive to get surrounded by family, love, beauty, music. I admire their hospitality, responsiveness, sincerity, and the warm-heartedness they treat everything around with, from their holidays to us, complete strangers”!
We wanted to create the experience, where people could have an exciting journey into the Universe of the Artist, starting with the objects and paintings, and continued in the virtual reality – a special room with the soft walls and floor for it. AR is a human-computer interaction technology.
The world of real objects around us and the virtual world recreated on the computer are connected with the help of modern technologies to the original soundtrack written by Anya for this journey.

Take a walk around Anya’s house, take a look at the bookshelf, immerse yourself in the paintings on the wall and become a part of them, stroke the matryoshka and imagine yourself living in an environment of art and creativity! Let’s “dive into the rabbit’s hole” and see Anya’s house and studio in a kind of trippy surreal way, full of her “collection of everything”, like “The room of flying shoes” and large scale Russian dolls as chess.
The objects are going to remind a patchwork quilt, which is made of “the pieces of the dreams” of Mexican people – pieces of fabric, knitted tissue, photos, printed on a tissue, old toys and other random things. The Russian dolls sculptures, which start to move and open on your smartphone screen by using the technology of AR.

The impression of being in someone’s dream are completed by the abstract paintings (mixed media): bright colors and patchwork alike textures, collages with the pieces of polaroid street photos, which have been taken in Mexico.
